Email Configuration for KCnet
Included with every account is an internet email
address. Your email address is username@kcnet.com. Please
note that most internet mail servers will not accept email messages
larger than 5 MB, and many have smaller limits. Also note that a
rejected email message will not bounce back to your KCnet mailbox
properly if it is larger than the remaining quota of storage available
for your account. A mailbox quota of 5 MB is set by default for all
KCnet email accounts. Consequently, you will have no way of
knowing that the message did not reach its destination if it exceeds
your remaining quota.

Eudora
Eudora Lite is a freeware email client with versions for both Windows
and Macintosh. If you don't already have Eudora Lite, you can download
the latest version free from Qualcomm.
To properly configure Eudora for use with KCnet, go to the settings
menu. If you are using Eudora 1.5.4, you have to click the Tools menu
and then select options. If you are using an earlier version, click the
Special menu and select settings.
Make sure the following fields are populated with these values:
- POP Account - username@pop.kcnet.com
- Return Address - username@kcnet.com
- SMTP Server - smtp.kcnet.com

Netscape Navigator Mail

To configure Netscape Navigator email for use with KCnet, do the
following:
- Go to the Options Menu and Select Mail and News Preferences.
- Click the Servers Tab.
- Enter mail.kcnet.com in the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) and pop.kcnet.com
in the Incoming Mail (POP) Server fields.
- Enter your username in the POP Account Field.
- While in this menu, enter news.kcnet.com in the News (NNTP)
Server field to configure Netscape News.
- Next, click the Identity Tab.
- Enter your real name in the Your Name field.
- Enter your username@kcnet.com in the Your Email field.
- Enter your username@kcnet.com in the Reply-to Address
field.
- Then, click the Organization Tab.
- If you want Netscape to remember your email password, check the
Remember Mail box.
- Finally, click the OK button at the bottom of the screen.

Netscape Communicator 4.0 Mail

To configure Netscape Communicator email for use with KCnet, do the
following:
- Go to the Edit Menu and Select Preferences.
- Click the "Mail & Groups" branch from the main tree
in the Category Window.
- Select the sub-branch "Identity"
- Enter your real name in the "Your Name" field.
- Enter your username@kcnet.com in the "Email
Address" field.
- Then, select the sub-branch "Mail Server"
- Enter your username in the "Mail Server Username"
field.
- Enter smtp.kcnet.com in both the "Outgoing Mail
Server" field and pop.kcnet.com in the "Incoming
Mail Server" fields.
- Then, select the sub-branch "Groups Server"
- Enter news.kcnet.com in the "Discussion Groups (news)
Server" field to configure Netscape News.
- Finally, click the OK button at the bottom of the screen.

To configure Netscape Communicator email for use with KCnet, do the
following:
- Go to the Edit Menu and Select Preferences.
- Click the "Mail & Newsgroups" branch from the main
tree in the Category Window.

- Enter your username@kcnet.com in the "Email

- Then, select the sub-branch "Newsgroup Servers"
- Click the Add button.
- Enter news.kcnet.com in the "Server" field to
configure Netscape News.
- Click OK.
- Finally, click the OK button at the bottom of the screen.

Netscape 6.0 Mail

To configure Netscape 6.0 email for use with KCnet, do the
following:
- Go to the Tasks Menu and Select Mail.
- Go to the Edit Menu and Select Mail/News
Account Settings.
- Click the "New Account" button.
- Select "ISP or email provider" and
click Next.
- Enter your name in the Your Name field and
enter your email address in the Email Address field, click Next.
- Select "POP Mail Server" from the
Server Type list and enter "pop.kcnet.com" in the Server
Name field.
- Under the SMTP server section, enter "smtp.kcnet.com"
in the Server Name field and click Next.
- Enter your username in the User Name field and
click Next.
- On the Account Name screen, click Next.
- On the Congratulations screen, click Finish.

OS X Mail
Here are the steps to setting up an email account
for use with KCnet, in OS X Mail.
- Open Mail.
- Go to the Mail menu and select Preferences.
If this is your first email account setup, the Mail Setup window
will appear automatically, and you can skip to Step 7.
- Click the Accounts icon in the Mail
Preferences window.
- Click Create Account.
- Choose the correct account type from the
pop-up menu.
- In the Description field type, "KCnet" to
identify the account.
- Enter your email address in the Email Address
field and enter your real name in the Display Name field.
- In the Host Name field enter, "pop.kcnet.com".
- Enter your username in the Username field and your password in
the Password field.
- In the SMTP Host Name field enter, "smtp.kcnet.com".
- Lastly, Click OK when finished.

Microsoft Exchange or Outlook 97
The Microsoft Exchange, the Inbox Icon in Windows 95, has the
functionality to support internet email. To create a KCnet internet mail
profile, do the following:
- If you have MS Exchange, on your desktop, click the Inbox Icon
with your right mouse button, and select properties.(skip to step 2)
If you have Outlook 97 open it, click the tools menu and select
services.
- If Internet Mail is not already included as one of your
information services, click the Add button and select Internet Mail.
- If Internet Mail is already included as one of your information
services, highlight it and click the Properties Button.
- Under the General Tab, enter your real name in the Full Name
field.
- Enter your username@kcnet.com in the Email Address field.
- Enter mail.kcnet.com in the Internet Mail Server field.
- Enter your username in the Account Field.
- Enter your password in the password field.
- Next, click the Connection Tab.
- Click the Connect Using the Modem radio button.
- Select kcnet as the connection.
- Uncheck the" Work Off-line and Use Remote Mail" box
- Click OK button at the bottom of the screen to close out of the
configuration screen.
- Finally, at the desktop, double-click the Inbox Icon to open
Microsoft Exchange.

The new Microsoft Internet Explorer version 3.0 has an email program
called Internet Mail. To configure this package for KCnet, do the
following:
- In Explorer 3.0, click the Mail Icon and select Read Mail
- After Internet Mail has opened, click the Mail menu and select
options
- Select the Servers Tab
- Enter your Real Name in the Name field.
- Enter your username@kcnet.com in the Email Address field.
- Enter smtp.kcnet.com in the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) and pop.kcnet.com
