Mission Statement

Our programs are directed toward enhancing the self-esteem of each individual Youth through their awareness of our God's unconditional, eternal, and passionate love and acceptance of them.

We strive to enhance the faith life of each individual Youth, directing them toward a place of desiring to make a personal commitment to Jesus Christ, and providing a framework to support that Faith decision once it has been made.

We direct our efforts to develop the faith life and maturity of Volunteers, Peer Ministers, and involved Youth, so that they will be able to offer their lives as an example and as a witness to others that faith in our Lord Jesus Christ is a desirable, acceptable, and exciting part of their lives.

We encourage our Youth to take an active role in making the Youth program their program - taking satisfaction in its successes, learning from its experiences, and assisting in the planning and implementation of its many varied activities.

We make every effort possible to ensure that a Youth is never left out of an activity or retreat for financial reasons. We accept a communal responsibility for the Faith Life and Experience of our Youth.

First three paragraphs are adapted from NET (National Evangelization for Teens) with permission.

Don't let anyone think little of you because you are young. Be Their ideal; let them follow the way you teach and live...
I Tim 4:12

St. James Youth Group

We are more than 200 Youth divided into groupings of grade 7's, Junior High (gr.8-9), and Confirmation Group (grades 10-12). Beginning the fall of 1997 we will have a Confirmation Encore Group. We also hope to have activities for College Age during school breaks.

We are also dozens of Parents and Volunteers who form an indispensable core. It is only because of Parental Involvement that anything at all happens. We approach Youth Ministry from a Small Group approach, and because of the growth of our programs, we always need more volunteers - Confirmation Catechists, Encore Catechists, Small Group Leaders and so on.

Parents are always welcome at meetings, to sit in as observers, to test the waters to see if they'd like to volunteer on a regular basis, or just for an evening out.

For more information on any activities we offer, please consult the mail slots in the alley off the Narthex, or call the Youth Office.
