Configuring OS/2 Warp for use with KCnet

This document assumes you have the Internet Access Kit (IAK) and the PPP driver installed. First, Bring up the IBM Dialup for TCP/IP window and add a new entry.

Then, select the Login Info tab and complete the following fields:

  1. Name - KCnet
  2. Description - Internet Account
  3. Login ID - your username@kcnet.com
  4. Password - your password
  5. Phone Number - your assigned access number
  6. Login Sequence - none (Actually type the word none), Connection Type - PPP, Inactivity Timeout - 15 minutes

Next, select the Connect Info tab and complete the following fields:

  1. Your IP Address - No Entry
  2. Destination IP Address - No Entry
  3. Netmask - No Entry
  4. MRU Size - 1004
  5. VJ Compression - Checked
  6. Domain Nameserver - 206.102.152.1
  7. Your Host Name - none No Entry
  8. Your Domain Name - kcnet.com

Next, select the Server Info tab and complete the following fields:

  1. News Server - news.kcnet.com
  2. Gopher Server - No Entry
  3. WWW Server - www.kcnet.com
  4. Mail Gateway - mail.kcnet.com
  5. POP Mail Server - mail.kcnet.com
  6. Reply Domain - kcnet.com
  7. Reply Mail ID - your username
  8. POP Login ID - your username
  9. POP Password - your password

Finally, select the Modem Info tab and complete the following fields:

  1. Modem Type - Hayes Compatible
  2. Com Port - Your modem com port
  3. Speed (Baud) - 38400 for a 14.4 modem or 57600 for a 28.8 modem
  4. Data Bits - 8
  5. Parity - None
  6. Prefix - ATDT
  7. Mode - Dial
  8. Initiation String 1 - AT&F
  9. Initiation String 2 - ATS10=40
  10. Call Waiting - If you have Call Waiting, disable it with *70
