Configuring OS/2 Warp for use with KCnet
This document assumes you have the Internet Access Kit (IAK) and the
PPP driver installed. First, Bring up the IBM Dialup for TCP/IP window
and add a new entry.
Then, select the Login Info tab and complete the following
fields:
- Name - KCnet
- Description - Internet Account
- Login ID - your username@kcnet.com
- Password - your password
- Phone Number - your assigned access
number
- Login Sequence - none (Actually type the word none), Connection
Type - PPP, Inactivity Timeout - 15 minutes
Next, select the Connect Info tab and complete the following
fields:
- Your IP Address - No Entry
- Destination IP Address - No Entry
- Netmask - No Entry
- MRU Size - 1004
- VJ Compression - Checked
- Domain Nameserver - 206.102.152.1
- Your Host Name - none No Entry
- Your Domain Name - kcnet.com
Next, select the Server Info tab and complete the following
fields:
- News Server - news.kcnet.com
- Gopher Server - No Entry
- WWW Server - www.kcnet.com
- Mail Gateway - mail.kcnet.com
- POP Mail Server - mail.kcnet.com
- Reply Domain - kcnet.com
- Reply Mail ID - your username
- POP Login ID - your username
- POP Password - your password
Finally, select the Modem Info tab and complete the following
fields:
- Modem Type - Hayes Compatible
- Com Port - Your modem com port
- Speed (Baud) - 38400 for a 14.4 modem or 57600 for a 28.8 modem
- Data Bits - 8
- Parity - None
- Prefix - ATDT
- Mode - Dial
- Initiation String 1 - AT&F
- Initiation String 2 - ATS10=40
- Call Waiting - If you have Call Waiting, disable it with *70
