Step 5 - Click the DNS tab. For the Domain Name type "kcnet.com". In the DNS IP Address field type "209.240.96.6" for Kansas City users or "216.90.72.14" for St. Louis users, then click add.  Repeat the process with our secondary IP address of "209.240.96.11" for Kansas City users or "216.90.72.5" for St. Louis users.  Next, click OK.

Step 6 - On the kppp configuration screen, click the Device tab.  For Modem Device select the proper path to your modem; choosing  "/dev/modem", if available,  may not work, because this is most likely a sim link.  For Flow Control select "CRTSCTS".  For Line Termination select "CR". For connection speed, select the speed that corresponds to your modem, e.g., 57600 or higher for 56k.

Step 7 - Click the Modem tab.  Press Query Modem.  It should detect your modem and display a command set. If you get an error message, go back to the device tab and select a different path. Next, click OK.

Step 8 - At the kppp screen, type your assigned username in the Login ID field and  your password in the Password field.  When you click Connect, your modem should initialize and connect to KCnet. NOTE: if the initialization hangs at "setting modem speaker" go back into the modem properties and slide the modem volume all the way to the left.
