Publishing Your Web Site with
Microsoft® FrontPage® 2000, 2002, 2003
Creating your website
and publishing it to KCnet can be accomplished by following these simple
steps:
- Create your
website using Microsoft® FrontPage® 2000 on your local machine.
Note: Your
default page must be ONE of the following three files prioritized in
this order:
Default.htm
Default.asp
index.htm
index.html
-
After
developing and saving your web site, the site can be published to
the host server as follows:
From the FrontPage 2000 Explorer, open the web you want to publish
via the File menu option Open Web. Once the site is open, from the
File menu, click Publish Web. When the Publish FrontPage Dialog
box appears, click on the 'Publish all pages, overwriting any
already on the destination' (for new web sites, modified sites
should leave 'Publish changed pages only' selected).
-
Enter
your domain name address (http://www.domain name.com) in the
"Specify location to publish your web to" box.
Note: If your Web Site is a Non-Domain site and hosted on KCnet,
enter http://ww3.kcnet.com/your-site-name instead.
-
Click
"Publish" and Fill in the User ID and Passwords that have been
assigned to you. Click OK.
*Note: If your site is on one of our Windows 2000 servers, you need
to preface your User ID with 'kcnet/'. For example: kcnet/username
-
FrontPage will begin to copy the pages from your computer to our
server.
Note: Our servers have the FrontPage Server Extensions installed so
your copy of the FrontPage software communicates directly with
the extensions on our servers to copy your files. If you try to
FTP to an account that has the FrontPage server extensions
installed, you may encounter problems.
