Publishing Your Web Site with
Microsoft® FrontPage® 98

Creating your website and publishing it to KCnet can be accomplished by following these simple steps:

  1. Create your website using Microsoft® FrontPage® 98 on your local machine.

Note:  Your default page must be ONE of the following three files prioritized in this order:

Default.htm
Default.asp
index.htm
index.html

  1. After developing and saving your web site, the site can be published to the host server as follows:
From FrontPage Explorer, open the web you want to publish via the Getting Started Dialog box or from the File menu option Open FrontPage Web.  Once the site is open, from the File menu, click Publish FrontPage Web.   When the Publish FrontPage Dialog box appears, click on the 'Publish changed pages only' check box to clear it (for new web sites, modified sites can leave it checked) then, Click on  the "More Webs.." button.

  2. Enter your domain name address (www.domain name.com) in the "location" box.

Note: If your Web Site is a Non-Domain site and hosted on KCnet, enter ww3.kcnet.com/your-site-name instead.

  3. Fill in the User ID and Passwords that have been assigned to you.

PLEASE NOTE: If  you receive the following message: "NTLM authentication failed (code -2146893042)" please click here.

*Note:  If your site is on one of our Windows 2000 servers, you need to preface your User ID with 'kcnet/'.  For example:  kcnet/username

  4. Click "Publish" and FrontPage will begin to copy the pages from your computer to our server.

Note:  Our servers have the FrontPage Server Extensions installed so your copy of the FrontPage software     communicates directly with the extensions on our servers to copy your files.   If you try to FTP to an account that has the FrontPage server extensions installed, you may encounter problems.
