A very
important dialing change has taken place in both the Greater Kansas
City and St. Louis local calling areas. Ten-Digit Dialing is being required for
local calls between numbers with
"913" and "816" area codes (KC users) and
numbers with "314" and "636" area codes (STL
users). All
customers in the "913" or "636"
local
calling area are affected by the dialing change. In all
cases, if it is a local call today, it will be a local call after
the change.
"636" residents in the Greater St.
Louis local calling area, should place local calls between the
"636" and "314" area codes using the
"314" area code plus the seven-digit telephone number, you
do not need to dial a one before the area code.
"913" residents in the Greater Kansas City
local calling area, should place local calls between the
"913" and "816" area codes using the
"816" area code plus the seven-digit telephone number, you
do not need to dial a one before the area code.
If you are one of the many telephone customers
who subscribe to an optional extended area or metropolitan calling
plan, this dialing change affects you, also.
St. Louis area users, and others in extended area or
metropolitan area calling plans, should now dial 314-787-1016.
Kansas City area users, and others in extended area or
metropolitan area calling plans, should now dial either 816-410-0099
or 816-502-0021.
